iLike Unveils New Concert-Discovery Features

SEATTLE, Wash. — iLike, inc, the six-month-old social music discovery service, announced today that it has surpassed one million registered users and is now processing over 200 million monthly track plays based on enabling users to log their listening habits on their iPods and PCs. The company also announced the following new concert-discovery features with event listings provided by Ticketmaster:

Registered users will now receive a regular email with personalized concert alerts (upcoming shows by artists they like).

Across iLike.com, “on tour” links will appear next to any artist that has upcoming tour dates

For users who provide their zip code, the “on tour” links are personalized, to appear only if the artist has tour dates near the user’s area.

“Live events are an integral part of the music experience, and thanks to Ticketmaster they are now also an integral part of the iLike experience,” said Ali Partovi, CEO of iLike. “We are thrilled that over a million people are using iLike to discover not only new music, but now also upcoming concerts and events that they might have otherwise missed.”

“Ticketmaster is excited to offer one million iLike users the opportunity to get up-to-the-minute concert listings for the acts they love,” said Sean Moriarty, President and CEO of Ticketmaster. “iLike and Ticketmaster have made it easier than ever for people to know when their favorite artists are performing and to purchase tickets immediately.”

iLike users can download the free iLike Sidebar for iTunes to connect their music library and iPod to a broader community of music fans (limited version also available for Windows Media Player). The Sidebar allows users to log and publish their listening habits. iLike generates personalized recommendations by analyzing the music users are listening to, at a cumulative rate of 200 million track plays processed per month across the iLike community. The Sidebar recommends music from both signed and unsigned artists; users can download free MP3s directly from the Sidebar or click to buy music from the iTunes Music Store.

Additional iLike features focused on music discovery and community include:

    * An easily-inserted widget that can display and preview your favorite music on your MySpace, Facebook, or other social networking profile page
    * A real time display of music you are currently listening to
    * Music recommendations with 30-second clips
    * Music videos from YouTube, playing directly on your iLike profile page
    * iLike “Challenge” Music Game
