L.A. artists invited to submit material in consideration for future performances

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — You won’t hear “shhhh” at this event: the Los Angeles Public Library teams up with L.A. Music Network to launch a live music series in all styles and for all ages. In an arresting new live music series, “LAMN Gets Loud in the Library” launches on July 11 with free performances by local hip-hop artists for children and teens, though audiences of all ages are welcome.

The series will include music of all genres (including jazz, pop, classical, rock, alternative and world music) appealing to children, teens, young and mature adults. The series is sponsored by the Los Angeles Music Network (LAMN) and the Los Angeles Public Library’s North Hollywood Regional Branch.

Like the library itself, these performances belong to the people of Los Angeles. What better place to hear music than at the library where you can pick up a book on music at the same time?

“Music is one of the finest inventions of mankind,” says Tess Taylor, president and founder of LAMN, who is producing the series. “So I am thrilled to pair music with books for the community. The power of knowledge and art together gives people some of the most essential things: hope, education and opportunity.”

Marina V - LAMNThe series will present a roster of artists as diverse as the population of Los Angeles itself, and encourages Angelenos to become involved, either as performers, fans or bookworms! This will help audiences gain a better understanding of the rich diversity that makes up our city, and is intended as a vehicle to help people discover ways in which music and books can uplift us and make our lives more civilized.
