LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) recently announced their seminar line-up for September and October, 2007, which includes “Art of the Music Deal” (with music biz attorneys Todd Cooper and Dina Lapolt), and “Producing Hit Songs” (with Tena Clark).

“Art of The Music Deal” Launches in Los Angeles (Sep 17 L.A., Oct 25 S.F.)
Top music biz attorneys Todd Cooper and Dina Lapolt and a cutting-edge personal artist manager (TBA), will negotiate LIVE a recording agreement. Most people think they can just hand a negotiation to a lawyer, and leave it at that. But the truth is, as a professional, you need to be aware of the process and deal points, too, and what the short- and long-term implications to your artists’ careers may be. Future agreements to be negotiated to include publishing, licensing, producer, independent distribution, merchandising, tour, management and others.

Oct 25 in S.F. – Art of the Music Deal Part II: Digital Distribution Agreement

Producing Hit Songs with Tena Clark in Los Angeles (Oct 5)
We are delighted to announce our next special guest for NARIP’s Producing Hit Songs series, platinum producer, Founder and CEO/Chief Creative Officer of DMI Music & Media Solutions Tena Clark.

Clark has bridged music and marketing throughout her career. She composed songs for commercial campaigns such as McDonald’s (‘Have You Had Your Break Today’). Her film and television credits include My Best Friend’s Wedding, Where The Heart Is, Hope Floats, French Kiss, Twins, CBS This Morning, Entertainment Tonight show and others.

Most recently, Clark’s music is heard in the original song she composed for the Desperate Housewives soundtrack, recorded by LeAnn Rimes. She also produced Dionne Warwick’s first holiday CD, ‘My Favorite Time of the Year,’ as well as ‘Church: Songs of Soul & Inspiration’ featuring Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison and top African-American female artists such as Patti LaBelle and Chaka Khan. Clark wrote the single ‘Way Up There’ recorded by Patti LaBelle for the ‘Church’ CD, and was nominated for a GRAMMY(R) Award.

Clark works closely with DMI’s team of best-in-class professionals from brand marketing, the music industry, advertising agencies, television networks and technology companies.
