CHATSWORTH, Calif. — KRK Systems, one of the world’s leading suppliers of powered recording monitors, today launched an updated version of its acclaimed 10″ recording subwoofer. The new KRK10s incorporates a sleek industrial design that matches the company’s recently launched RokitG2 monitors, as well as significant feature enhancements that address real-world home, pro and project studio applications.

The industrial design of the KRK10s leverages KRK’s research and development into baffle design and fabrication. The subwoofer’s curved front matches the best-selling Rokit and VXT monitors’ diffraction reducing shape, making the KRK10s the perfect complement to either of these products. The KRK10s is also a good addition to other active or passive monitor setups, thanks to its integrated, adjustable crossover and plethora of back-panel connection options.

Updated electronics include a ground-lift switch for combating less than perfect electrical and audio grounding and a bypass footswitch that allows the subwoofer and crossover to be easily enabled and disabled. The bypass footswitch allows users to easily switch a mix from stereo or 2.1/5.1 sound environments. Improved amplifier heat sinking results in lower distortion at high power levels and the KRK10s has a lower noise floor than its predecessor.

The KRK10s innovations also extend to the sound of the product. Powerful bass reinforcement is assured with KRK’s trademark yellow-cone 10-inch, high excursion glass-aramid woofer. The voicing has been slightly enhanced to provide even better mix clarity and precision and the scientifically designed front firing port reduces wall coupling and port turbulence. “Today’s music demands accurate bass reproduction to ensure mixes remain punchy and powerful,” said Tony Rodrigues, Vice-President of Marketing for KRK Systems. “The KRK10s allows even modest monitor setups to hear deep into the bass frequencies to provide the producer or engineer a clear image of what is going on in the mix.”

The KRK10s replaces the existing RP10s subwoofer.
