    Hi Scott!

Good article – it’s always important to continually shed light on the issues facing songwriters, who represent the spark and foundation of the music making process. Songwriters should be keenly aware of where their revenue streams are and how to tap into those that they’re not currently accessing.

I wanted to chime back about RightsFlow in particular to help resolve any misconception. As you know, we work on behalf of record labels, online music services, distributors, and artists in clearing compositions. This is different from a collecting body (such as SoundExchange or ASCAP) who are geared toward collecting money on behalf of their represented membership, whereas RightsFlow’s primary aim is to simplify the licensing process and be a licensing agent on behalf of licensees (such as labels and music services).

Our work with publishers (such as yourself) allows us to ensure quick payment for any uses by our over 9500+ clients (without taking fees from publishers), however we can’t collect any money on behalf of publishers for labels we don’t represent.

If ever your music is being used in any way by one of our clients, we’re always happy to address it. Please feel free to contact us ( http://rightsflow.com/contact-us/ ) if you have any questions and we’ll gladly answer them.

    Kindest,
    Alex
