NASHVILLE, Tenn. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Gabe Hizer releases comical animated cartoon for first single from his new album. Two years ago, Gabe Hizer packed up his life and moved to Mexico with the intention of going into retirement after a long career in the law. After spending only four months in a small picturesque town, he was caught unawares and emerged with a reignited passion for music, including several new songs. These songs, along with a compelling collection of additional original tracks, make up Gabe’s debut album, “Persistence of Memory.” Set to be released on April 5, Hizer’s album crackles with the fire and passion of someone who rediscovered the love of their life: music.

This varied album has been described as a cross between Joni Mitchell, Townes van Zandt and James Taylor, with a healthy dollop of blues and soul. Produced by artist/songwriter Neilson Hubbard, the CD will be available from CD Baby, Amazon.com, and from Gabe via Bandcamp (gabehizer.bandcamp.com ).

“Persistence of Memory” features complex guitar arrangements, moving lyrics and soulful vocals which capture the listener and delivers from start to finish. The track “Memory,” is a melancholy ballad with a dark side and powerful orchestration. On “Some Things Never Change,” Hizer is accompanied by cellist Jonathan Yudkin, a first-call string player in Nashville who both wrote and performed all the string parts for the last few Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts CDs. This minor ballad describes the plight of an elderly parent with Alzheimer’s and has been described as “a real tear-jerker with a gorgeous melody.”

Look out, though, because the album throws you a curve with the catchy and upbeat song “The Ballad of Joey and the Bottle of Booze.” To celebrate the release of this first single, Gabe hired a team of animators to visually express this amusing story. It tells the story of Joey, who steals a diamond ring and a bottle of booze, and tries to use an “insanity defense” to avoid getting tossed in jail. Enjoy. The video is available on YouTube at: www.youtube.com/v/A0azaI8yS_Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&hd=1 .

After many years of putting his love of music on the side in favor of his law career, Gabe’s music has only gotten stronger. One fan said, “In a world where people get sucked into boring desk jobs, it’s refreshing to see someone not only pursue their passion, but succeed at it.” Another commented, “With his three-octave vocal range, sophisticated guitar arrangements, and well-crafted songs, Gabe puts on a great one-man show!”

It’s almost as if all the years of not spending 24/7 on his music has instilled it with a sense of urgency, only making his songs all the more powerful and exciting.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Introducing Jonny Harmonic, a mysterious musician who has never been seen in public. Some say he is a phantom, some say he is imaginary, but he has a new album from Golosio Publishing (www.golosio.com) called “We All Love Bright Shiny Things.” All twelve songs on “Bright Shiny Things” were composed and produced by John Scott G of Golosio, with performances by the reclusive Harmonic who would only visit the studio alone and in the middle of the night.

“We left milk and cookies out for him, just like for Santa Claus,” G stated. “He ate and drank everything, but the cleaning crew says the empty milk glass always smelled like scotch, whiskey or rye.”

About the Songs:
“Explosive Chill” combines laid-back electronica with eerie melodies that would be more at home in an experimental art movie. “Bright Sun at Midnight at the Top of the World” is pretty psychedelia. “Snakeneck” is an evil dance tune. “88 Gates of Knowledge” is an ethereal and contemplative track that composer G says is “drenched in reverie for the good times shared while two lovers are in an altered state of mind.”

All songs are on iTunes and videos for ten of the songs are on YouTube and FookMovie.com. The artistic industrial-erotic album cover photo is by Snook with art direction by Phil Hatten Design.

About Jonny Harmonic:
This is the written statement supplied by Jonny Harmonic in a request for a bio: “Mr. Harmonic has no comment on rumors linking him to Salvador Dali or anyone mentioned in the tabloids.”

About Golosio Publishing:
In addition to Scott G, songwriters working with Golosio include Doug Colosio and Scott Joss (country, Texas swing), James Sotelo (rock and electronica), and DJ Insane (trance), as well as many country writers. Doug Colosio has written with Merle Haggard and is featured on the Sony Acid “American Piano” recording. Scott Joss has collaborated with both Haggard and Dwight Yoakam.

Golosio music has been heard in commercials for many national and regional brands, including Verizon Wireless and General Dynamics.

NEW YORK, N.Y. /Music Industry Newswire/ — The Pit Stop Players, a ten-member instrumental ensemble, will play its inaugural concert on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 7 p.m., at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. The eclectic, genre-defying group will perform works by William Bolcom, Olivier Messiaen, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Danny Elfman, as well as a piece by Joshua Rosenblum, the group’s conductor and founder. The concert will also include a movement from Paul Moravec’s “Tempest Fantasy,” which won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in Music, and a world premiere by Broadway orchestrator Michael Starobin.

“The level of talent and ability among Broadway pit musicians is astonishingly high,” said Rosenblum, who will also play piano on the program. “I’ve always thought it would be eye-opening and inspiring to put a group of these players together and show what they can do when they’re center stage instead of in the pit.”

The Pit Stop Players, who collectively have played for over 75 Broadway productions, include Ed Matthew, clarinet and alto sax; Chris Jaudes, trumpet; Dan Culpepper, horn; Robin Zeh, violin; Paul Woodiel, violin; Danielle Farina, viola; Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf, cello; Garah Landes, piano; Jeff Carney, bass; Greg Landes, percussion; and Rosenblum, pianist and conductor.

Rosenblum anticipates presenting three concerts per season with the Pit Stop Players, and says nearly any genre is fair game for their programs, including traditional and contemporary classical, jazz, rock, fusion, and film music. However, the primary emphasis will be on new compositions and arrangements, written and orchestrated specifically for the group.

Rosenblum, who was trained as a classical pianist, has led the orchestras for thirteen Broadway and Off Broadway shows, including “Wonderful Town,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “The Music Man,” “Miss Saigon” and “Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” He is also the composer/creator of “BUSH IS BAD,” the hit Off Broadway satirical revue, and the composer/co-lyricist of Fermat’s “Last Tango” and “Einstein’s Dreams.” His instrumental music has been recorded on two CDs: “Impetuosities” and “Sundry Notes,” both on the Albany Records label. Rosenblum has written pieces on commission for Phil Smith, principal trumpeter of the New York Philharmonic; Ethel, America’s premier post-classical string quartet; and the Chase Brock Experience dance troupe. He teaches Composing for Musical Theater at Yale University, his alma mater.

Michael Starobin is an award-winning orchestrator and arranger working on Broadway and in Hollywood. He has orchestrated some of Broadway’s most innovative musicals, such as “Falsettos,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” “Assassins” (2004 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations) and “Next to Normal” (2009 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations). He was the conductor and orchestrator for Disney’s “Hunchback of Notre Dame,” and contributed orchestrations to Disney’s “Once Upon a Mattress” and the film versions of “Chicago” and “Nine.” Last year, the Queens Symphony performed the world premiere of his Sondheim Variations for string orchestra and percussion.

Tickets for the February 1 concert are on sale now and can be purchased via the Symphony Space website symphonyspace.org, or by calling (212) 864-5400. Tickets are $25 ($20 for Symphony Space members.)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. /Music Industry Newswire/ — The comedic assault on Tiger Woods continues with the Cledus T. Judd release of a parody of the classic country song “Tiger by the Tail,” recorded by Buck Owens in 1965. Judd’s adaptation, “Tiger by the Tail (The Tale of Tiger Woods),” recorded just one week ago, is already spinning on major radio stations in Chicago (WUSN-FM), Tampa (WQYK-FM), and Knoxville (WIVK-FM), among others, and today a music video is making its viral rounds on YouTube. The single is available for download on iTunes, Napster, and Amazon.com.

Known for his parodies of popular country music songs, Judd has been called the “Weird Al Yankovic” of country music. On his latest parody, Judd commented, “What got my attention first off on this story was Tiger Woods is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and he’s messing around with a gal who works for Perkins. With his kind of money, I’d at LEAST gone for somebody a little classier … like a 3rd shift manager at IHOP.”

Cadillac Jack, morning drive personality on KICKS 101.5/Atlanta, offered, “I played it for the first time on the Monday Morning Joke-Off and the phones have not stopped ringing since. It could be one of the most talked about song parodies in recent years. Great topical humor about a pretty sad situation. Cledus T. Judd may be richer than Tiger Woods when this is all over!”

An American country music artist signed with E1 Entertainment (formerly Koch Records), Judd is known primarily for his parodies of popular country music songs. His albums are usually an equal mix of original comedy songs and parodies. Judd has released ten studio albums and two EPs, and several of their singles have entered the Billboard “Hot Country Songs” charts, including “I Love NASCAR,” a parody of Toby Keith’s 2003 hit single “I Love This Bar.” Judd starred in Season 5 of VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club.”

This song makes the controversial “Saturday Night Live” Tiger Woods spoof that aired last Saturday night on NBC look a whole lot less offensive next to these lyrics in the first verse and chorus:

Well, she beat Tiger all to hell, it’s plain to see,
hit him in his golf balls from the black and blue tees
She was teed off from a tough lie, he tried to tell
And looks like she beat Tiger all to hell

Well, he thought he’d cheat on her and she’d stand by her man,
She knocked out his window with his three iron in her hand
He got up and down in a skins game with a cheap Jezebel
And that’s why she beat Tiger all to hell

Well, she beat Tiger all to hell, it’s plain to see,
Looks like he’s had a hole in one or two or three,
He should have never pulled out his wood, yeah, he should have kept it to himself,
That’s why she beat Tiger all to hell.

DETROIT /Music Industry Newswire/ — Last summer Billy Craig had the pleasure of performing at a “Make-A-Wish” event. After performing and meeting some of the great kids and the great people of this organization, he was moved and found himself wanting to do something more to help this awesome cause.

Billy says, “Driving home from the event, I wrote a song that I thought was so appropriate and went into the studio to produce it. It’s called “Make A Wish.”

Each line of the verse signifies a different wish for a well deserving child and of course the chorus is “Make A Wish.”

It’s available on iTunes, Amazon.com and Rhapsody.com for 99 cents and all proceeds are going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation helping make dreams come true for kids with life-threatening medical conditions.

Biography of Billy Craig:

Currently residing on the upper eastside of Metro Detroit, Billy was born and raised in the small town of Big Rapids, Michigan, the second youngest of nine kids. His musical influences started at a very early age from watching his older sisters dance to Motown hits and listening as his older brother played AC/DC and Van Halen albums. He recognized something powerful and familiar in the rhythms and riffs, and even though he couldn’t explain it at the time, music seemed to burn in his young soul. It wouldn’t be long before he charted his own course to becoming the seasoned pro that he is today.

His mother bought him his first guitar at age seven, and he was out doing gigs by the time he was in the eighth grade with his older brother’s band. They won the Eastern Michigan Battle of the Bands that year, going up against bands with much older players, and Billy gained not only his first fans but also the confidence and desire to perform in front of larger audiences.

Since childhood, Billy has performed in thousands of shows. From solo performances to cover and original bands, from jazz and country to rock, he has played in front of audiences of up to 25,000 across the USA and abroad, including New York, California, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Detroit, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
One of the founding members of the Detroit-based Greg Stryker Band, he co-wrote “Streets of Fire,” a radio hit in Southeast Michigan that received heavy airplay on both WRIF and WLLZ in the Detroit metro market and as far west as Sacramento, California.

Of recent note, he was a co-writer for the country band Trigger Darlow out of Detroit currently getting major label interest in Nashville and airplay on WYCD in Detroit.

His present focus is his own original project, which he dubs a “folkrockcountry” kind of thing . . . and going deeper into the country genre, he’s looking forward to starting pre-production on his follow-up CD.

WASHINGTON, D.C. /Music Industry Newswire/ — At last! The trial we’ve all been waiting for. “The Trial of George W Bush” is a wicked satire with music, produced, directed and written by composer/humorist Roger Rudenstein. An award-winning composer, Rudenstein announced that he created the Bush satire specifically to be downloaded to MP3 player or mobile phone. It can also be listened to online. The MP3 recording is available free.

“I just got tired of waiting for the Obama Administration to get off its duff and bring the ‘Decider’ and his crew to justice,” said Rudenstein in an interview with himself. “Maybe Obama thinks it’s more important to improve health care and save the tanking economy than to prosecute Bush’s law breaking,” Rudenstein suggested to Rudenstein. “Putting a definitive end to the nightmare of the past eight years is just as important,” retorted Rudenstein, “and, anyway, I want to see Bush pay.”

“The Trial” subjects the former President to an inquest into his crimes committed while he was in the Oval Office, such as allegedly lying about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in order to invade Iraq, illegal spying on law-abiding Americans, stealing elections, preventing action against climate change, authorizing acts of torture in violation of international law, and consistently mispronouncing the word “nuclear.”

The trial is carried out by the Devil and his buddy, The Grand Inquisitor, with the help of Angelina Jolie and the viewing audience. Also appearing are the former VP and another disgraced President: “Tricky Dick.”

The talented cast features Kevin Corbett, of the comedy group Capitol Steps, as Bush and includes Jonathan Roberts as Grand Inquisitor and Kimberley Oppelt as Angelina. Music direction by Paul Dykstra. The songs are performed by Dykstra and the Nightmare of Reason Band, making its debut on this album. Sound engineer is David Kish.

Rudenstein is creator of another satire “The Devil and George Bush,” the first opera to be composed for the Internet, which debuted last October and which has been downloaded thousands of times.
