LOS ANGELES, Calif. /Music Industry Newswire/ — While most artists want you to think about their music, Paula Franceschi wants you to think about images when playing her new EP, “Songs for Singles” (Valjean Music). “The songs are meant to make you see movies in your mind,” says Franceschi. “These five new works are stand-alone songs that deal with aspects of relationships and which were created to be used in movies, commercials, TV shows, dance concerts, and film trailers,” Franceschi states.

Franceschi (which is pronounced “fran-CHESS-key”) worked for many years as creator of motion picture trailers (sometimes called “coming attractions” by the public), giving her a unique perspective on how music interacts with images in motion.

She oversaw the production of campaigns for such major motion pictures as “Schindler’s List” and “The Big Lebowski,” among many others. There is a strong tie-in between her trailer production work and her songs.

“I consider these five songs to be ‘mini-movies’ — they deliberately paint aural pictures,” Franceschi says. True to her business background, all five tracks are also available in instrumental versions.

About the “Songs for Singles”:
“Throw It Away” makes you see a raucous South-of-the-Border party. “Ride” takes you to the High Sierra and beyond. “Rome” is like a fun Rick Steves travel episode. “Confrontation” is like “West Side Story” done by Quentin Tarantino. “Reality” is filled with hypnotic Hawaiian dreaminess.

“I not only want you to feel the emotion in each song, I aim to make you SEE things with my music,” Franceschi states with a positivism that is infectious.

The unique design of the EP, with a cover and a CD label that appear to be 45 rpm singles, directly ties-in with the theme. “It’s a concept EP,” Franceschi notes, “except the concept is that the songs are individuals, ‘singles,’ and each one is like a musical trailer.”

As for the wide variety of music styles on her EP, “I was inspired most by John Lennon,” she explains, “because he wrote in whatever musical form suited the message, even if it wasn’t cool at the moment.” With the flow of emotion and imagery in her songs, each moment of this music is definitely cool.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Sleek beats and eerie melodies highlight ‘We All Love Bright Shiny Things,’ the new album from Jonny Harmonic, now on iTunes from Golosio Publishing (www.golosio.com). Harmonic is a mystifying musician no one has ever seen. “The guy comes in to record whenever no one else is present,” states John Scott G, producer and composer at Golosio. “That may be what frees him to play in such an unusual yet attractive way.”

The dozen songs on “Bright Shiny Things” had demos created by G at the Golosio studios starting last year. Performances by the reclusive Harmonic took place after midnight but before sunrise and only on odd-numbered days.

“Not only has nobody seen Jonny Harmonic,” G notes, “we’re not even sure his photographs are accurate.”

Golosio Publishing is pleased with the music on “We All Love Bright Shiny Things.” One track, called “Explosive Chill,” seems to sum up the album’s musical approach by combining laid-back electronica with supernatural tunes that would suit a modern foreign film. “Bright Sun at Midnight at the Top of the World” is psychedelia that hypnotizes. “Snakeneck” is an evil slow dance tune. “88 Gates of Knowledge” is an ethereal and contemplative track. In addition to releasing the songs on iTunes, there are ten music videos on YouTube and FookMovie.com.

About Jonny Harmonic
This is the written statement supplied by the artist in a request for a bio: “Mr. Harmonic has no comment on rumors linking him to any ex-television series star currently in rehab.”

About John Scott G
Starting out as The G-Man, creator of eight albums of electronica, Mr. G is currently the managing partner of Golosio Publishing. He now writes songs in pop and country genres and oversees the recordings of the Bella Swan Bass Society.

About Golosio Publishing
Other songwriters working with Golosio include Doug Colosio and Scott Joss (country, Texas swing), James Sotelo (rock and electronica), and DJ Insane (trance), as well as many country music writers. Doug Colosio has written with Merle Haggard and is featured on the Sony Acid “American Piano” recording. Scott Joss has collaborated with both Haggard and Dwight Yoakam. Golosio music has been heard in commercials for Verizon Wireless, Goodyear, the Auto Club, Micron, General Dynamics, and numerous regional brands.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Gabe Hizer releases comical animated cartoon for first single from his new album. Two years ago, Gabe Hizer packed up his life and moved to Mexico with the intention of going into retirement after a long career in the law. After spending only four months in a small picturesque town, he was caught unawares and emerged with a reignited passion for music, including several new songs. These songs, along with a compelling collection of additional original tracks, make up Gabe’s debut album, “Persistence of Memory.” Set to be released on April 5, Hizer’s album crackles with the fire and passion of someone who rediscovered the love of their life: music.

This varied album has been described as a cross between Joni Mitchell, Townes van Zandt and James Taylor, with a healthy dollop of blues and soul. Produced by artist/songwriter Neilson Hubbard, the CD will be available from CD Baby, Amazon.com, and from Gabe via Bandcamp (gabehizer.bandcamp.com ).

“Persistence of Memory” features complex guitar arrangements, moving lyrics and soulful vocals which capture the listener and delivers from start to finish. The track “Memory,” is a melancholy ballad with a dark side and powerful orchestration. On “Some Things Never Change,” Hizer is accompanied by cellist Jonathan Yudkin, a first-call string player in Nashville who both wrote and performed all the string parts for the last few Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts CDs. This minor ballad describes the plight of an elderly parent with Alzheimer’s and has been described as “a real tear-jerker with a gorgeous melody.”

Look out, though, because the album throws you a curve with the catchy and upbeat song “The Ballad of Joey and the Bottle of Booze.” To celebrate the release of this first single, Gabe hired a team of animators to visually express this amusing story. It tells the story of Joey, who steals a diamond ring and a bottle of booze, and tries to use an “insanity defense” to avoid getting tossed in jail. Enjoy. The video is available on YouTube at: www.youtube.com/v/A0azaI8yS_Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&hd=1 .

After many years of putting his love of music on the side in favor of his law career, Gabe’s music has only gotten stronger. One fan said, “In a world where people get sucked into boring desk jobs, it’s refreshing to see someone not only pursue their passion, but succeed at it.” Another commented, “With his three-octave vocal range, sophisticated guitar arrangements, and well-crafted songs, Gabe puts on a great one-man show!”

It’s almost as if all the years of not spending 24/7 on his music has instilled it with a sense of urgency, only making his songs all the more powerful and exciting.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Introducing Jonny Harmonic, a mysterious musician who has never been seen in public. Some say he is a phantom, some say he is imaginary, but he has a new album from Golosio Publishing (www.golosio.com) called “We All Love Bright Shiny Things.” All twelve songs on “Bright Shiny Things” were composed and produced by John Scott G of Golosio, with performances by the reclusive Harmonic who would only visit the studio alone and in the middle of the night.

“We left milk and cookies out for him, just like for Santa Claus,” G stated. “He ate and drank everything, but the cleaning crew says the empty milk glass always smelled like scotch, whiskey or rye.”

About the Songs:
“Explosive Chill” combines laid-back electronica with eerie melodies that would be more at home in an experimental art movie. “Bright Sun at Midnight at the Top of the World” is pretty psychedelia. “Snakeneck” is an evil dance tune. “88 Gates of Knowledge” is an ethereal and contemplative track that composer G says is “drenched in reverie for the good times shared while two lovers are in an altered state of mind.”

All songs are on iTunes and videos for ten of the songs are on YouTube and FookMovie.com. The artistic industrial-erotic album cover photo is by Snook with art direction by Phil Hatten Design.

About Jonny Harmonic:
This is the written statement supplied by Jonny Harmonic in a request for a bio: “Mr. Harmonic has no comment on rumors linking him to Salvador Dali or anyone mentioned in the tabloids.”

About Golosio Publishing:
In addition to Scott G, songwriters working with Golosio include Doug Colosio and Scott Joss (country, Texas swing), James Sotelo (rock and electronica), and DJ Insane (trance), as well as many country writers.

BOULDER, Colo. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Songdrops Music (www.Songdrops.com) announces the release of children’s music artist Bryant Oden’s second album, “Songdrops 2: Bedtime Songs” to be released December 1st. The album is comprised of soothing, relaxing children’s songs including “Love Is” and “Just as You Are.” Oden’s first CD, “Songdrops: 30 Songs for Kids,” was released November 1st, and features the viral sensation “The Duck Song,” and the popular “I Got a Pea.”

Oden is best known for his funny songs, which have received millions of video views on Youtube in recent months. “The Duck Song” in particular has become a viral phenomenon, with over 5 million views of videos of the song on YouTube. A few YouTube viewer comments: “This is the song everyone has been singing at my school!” “Kids sing this down the hallways between classes.” “This is THE big thing at our school right now.” With Oden’s reputation growing as one of the funniest and freshest new voices in the youth music scene, why did he decide to release an album of lullabies and bedtime songs?

“There’s no doubt the funny songs get a bigger response,” Oden said. “But I really enjoy creating both the funny songs and the softer ones. Writing the fun ones is usually like a challenging mental puzzle. The soothing, relaxing songs usually just rise up from my heart on their own, sometimes almost finished on arrival. These songs are more meaningful to me, so it’s important to me to share them too. And once in a while I get a comment from a kid or parent how much one of these songs meant to them, and that makes all the time and effort in recording them worth it. One of the songs was used at a funeral recently, which was really humbling. And just the other day I got a comment from an expecting mother who said she puts the headphones on her belly for her baby to listen.”

“Songdrops 2: Bedtime Songs” features the beautiful piano ballad “Love Is,” the heartful “Sing You a Rainbow” and the affirming “Just as You Are,” all three of which have children joining in. Among the other songs on the CD, “Always” and “The Light in You” stand out as raw, honest, moving, positive songs, thanks in part to the contributions of talented vocalist Danae Shante, of www.SacredMusicalArts.com .

Oden, who owns the popular humor website www.InnocentEnglish.com, has spent the last year writing and recording songs. “I thought last fall I would just record maybe 11-12 songs, but more ideas kept coming to me, and I kept on recording. Even though the first Songdrops CD has 30 songs, there were more we couldn’t fit in, including a few bedtime songs that are on this CD.”

Oden is making available even more songs, and alternate versions of songs, on the digital only album “Songdrops 3: Extras” which has 25 new tracks. It will be available on CDbaby.com on December 15th and on iTunes soon after.

BOULDER, Colo. /Music Industry Newswire/ — As unlikely as it sounds, “The Duck Song,” the lead song on Bryant Oden’s debut CD “Songdrops: 30 Songs for Kids” (being released Nov. 1st through www.Songdrops.com) has been all the rage in schools across the U.S. and beyond. Videos of the song have millions of views on YouTube, and hundreds of kids have posted their own videos of it. A few YouTube comments: “Everyone at my school is singing it.” “My friends and me sing this all the time.” “This is THE big thing at our school now.” “Kids sing this down the hallways between classes.”

So what is it about “The Duck Song” that makes it so popular with teens? “I’m really not sure,” said Oden. “I didn’t expect the song to take off the way it has. I think I lucked into some kind of rare combination of a catchy tune, a good story based on an old joke, and a fun main character. It was also helped a lot by a 15 year old YouTube filmmaker, Forrestfire101, who made a great animated video of the song. That really helped people connect with it and gave them fun visuals for it.”

Oden, who owns the popular humor website www.InnocentEnglish.com, has spent the last year working on the Songdrops CD. “I tried to keep it fast-moving and fun, with a lot of variety, to work for all ages of kids and their parents.”

Early indications are “Songdrops: 30 Songs for Kids” will be well received. Several songs have over 100,000 YouTube views. And music reviewer Andrea Guy wrote “This is definitely an album the kids will go wild for, and to make it better, it’s an album that won’t drive their parents to distraction when the songs are played on repeat.”

Will any of the other songs on the CD take off the way The Duck Song has? “You never know,” Oden mused. “The videos for ‘I Got a Pea’ already have a few hundred thousand YouTube views, and are growing fast. But what’s happening with “The Duck Song” is pretty amazing and probably a one-time thing.”

Videos of “The Duck Song,” “I Got a Pea,” and other songs can be seen at Songdrops.com. The CD “Songdrops: 30 Songs for Kids” is available through CDbaby.com and iTunes. Bryant Oden is also releasing a second album, “Songdrops 2: Bedtime Songs” on November 15th.

HOUSTON, Texas /Music Industry Newswire/ — DJ Screw, HAWK, Big Moe, and Pimp C’s influence on the sound and culture of Houston, TX is immeasurable. Aside from Rap-A-Lot Records, the Screwed Up Click and Underground Kingz are entirely responsible for crafting Texas’ distinct musical identity. Pitch Control TV is honoring H-Town’s Fallen Soldiers in Volume 3 of its Mixtape DVD Series, which was released Sept. 29. The project includes video tributes and prized moments with the artists prior to their passing.

As DJ Screw, the originator of “Screw & Chopped” music, from which T-Pain borrowed the name for his recent hit single says, “When you say Texas, you say Screwed Up Texas.” Big Moe, an original member of the Screwed Up Click, formed his own blend of Hip Hop and R&B, which started a trend among many Houston talents (Z-Ro, Chamillionaire, Trae) and eventually led him to sign a major deal with Priority Records.

Another original member was HAWK, who had radio success with his mega-hit single “You Already Know”, off his self-titled album HAWK. Last, but certainly not least, legendary artist, writer and producer Pimp C of UGK, coined and exemplified the term “Country Rap Tunes,” and along with group member Bun B, went on to be Grammy Nominated for the group’s single “International Players Anthem” in 2008. If it weren’t for the contributions of the aforementioned artists, you may have never heard of Texas’ current roster of artists, such as Z-Ro, Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, and Slim Thug.

Volume 3 is an inventive format containing almost 2 hours of exclusive material-interviews, concerts, music videos and behind the scenes footage with the hottest and most respected artists in Texas. This new DVD also highlights some positive moments, which is often lost in the “rap world,” such as Trae tha Truth being recognized for his accomplishments, in the city of Houston and being given his own holiday, known as “TRAE DAY.”

“I try to focus more on those timeless moments, and leave the beef to the mainstream media,” said director Ariel Santschi.

Pitch Control TV’s Texas All-Star Edition features UGK, Slim Thug, Trae, Big Pokey, Lil’ Keke, E.S.G. and the Screwed Up Click, to name a few.

HOUSTON, Texas /Music Industry Newswire/ — From the 3rd Coast to the East Coast and now nestled back home in the South, Pitch Control TV Mixtape DVD series traveled to the East Coast to be recognized as a part of Country Rap Tunes: The 3rd Coast/Dirty South Film Festival held in Harlem, premiering PCTV’s Mixtape DVD Volume III, which will be released and in stores Tuesday, September 29th.

Ariel Santschi, director of PCTV’s Mixtape DVD series fortunately had groundbreaking success with the release of the Soldiers United For Cash documentary, which he shot with Legendary producer DJ Screw, two weeks before his untimely passing.

That opportunity opened doors, which led Santschi to shooting and directing multiple projects/documentaries with some of the biggest and most respected names in Southern Rap today including: Z-Ro, Scarface and the Legendary Pimp C (RIP).

Pitch Control TV Mixtape DVD Volume III will be released Tuesday, September 29th. Volume III is an inventive format containing almost 2 hours of interviews, exclusive concert footage, music videos and some behind the scenes footage of the hottest and most respected artists in South today. This Texas All-Star Edition features: UGK, Trae tha Truth, Slim Thug, Lil Flip, Big Pokey, Lil’ KeKe, Big Hawk (RIP) and all the Screwed Up Click members, to name a few.

You can also find hidden segments throughout the DVD, with special bonus material. This DVD will be a positive demonstration of what is yet to come out of the South and with 12 years of filming the underground music scene, Santschi is clever at bringing out the best in his focus.

SEATTLE, Wash. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Brain Grenade Entertainment (BGE) proudly announces the release date and CD Release Party for D.a. Thompson’s new extended play album titled “Disclaimer” on Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 at Galerias in Seattle, Washington. The first single off of D.a. Thompson’s EP is entitled, “Just you and me.” The new EP, “Disclaimer,” is a piano driven pop / rock / funk extended play album with fun arrangements and relatable lyrics. The EP delivers memorable hooks with hints of such artists as Billy Joel, Tears For Fears, and Jason Mraz. “Disclaimer” was produced by Loren Weisman, mixed by Scott Ross and mastered by Mark Alan Miller in a total of 110 hours over 13 sessions in the month of June 2009.

D.a. Thompson, a Seattle Washington based writer, speaker, and musician is tackling some of the front burner issues of today through a unique and diverse world view. D.a. is expanding restrained horizons by mind, mouth, and music. This is a Freedom Solutions Recording Plan (FSRP) album, meaning it was achieved using organizational recording methods developed by Loren Weisman. The goal of FSRP recordings is to help artists successfully budget and plan the production process. The FSRP also keeps the artist in control and full ownership of their music and involves giving a percentage of profits to a charity in which the artist believes.

On Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m., Galerias in Seattle, WA will host the D.a. Thompson CD Release Party. An unprecedented 25 percent of Galerias’ sales will be donated to D.a. Thompson’s post production budget allowing him to take the steps to gain self sufficient, realistic success without losing excessive percentages or control of his works. Galerias is located at 611 Broadway East on Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington.
