CAMBRIDGE, Mass. /Music Industry Newswire/ — Since 2007, Harmonix’s Rock Band has enabled players to live out their fantasy as a rock vocalist. Now, thanks to a technology licensing agreement with iZotope, Inc., a research-driven audio signal processing company, gamers who play upcoming Rock Band 3 this holiday will be able to take their vocal performance to new heights.

Using iZotope’s real-time pitch detection and pitch shifting middleware, Rock Band 3 provides players with the option to enable vocal effects commonly used in the music industry, assisting players to sing on key more easily with pitch correction and bringing the tools that pros use into the living room.

“The ability to have pitch correction in real-time helps to enhance the vocal gameplay and players’ in-game performance in Rock Band,” said Eran Egozy, CTO and co-founder of Harmonix. “We’re excited to feature iZotope’s technology and this new middleware in Rock Band 3 so that our players can enjoy the type of vocal effects that professional rock stars utilize for live stage performances in their homes this holiday.”

“With the production values of video games rivaling that of commercial albums and blockbuster films, consumers expect the same caliber of video and audio quality during dynamic, real-time game play,” explains Mark Ethier, CEO of iZotope. “Rock Band is an ideal platform for us to showcase iZotope’s technology so we can provide gamers with studio-grade audio effects that professional mixers, sound designers and others in the entertainment industry have relied on for years.”

iZotope’s extensive technology licensing program already includes industry giants like Adobe, Sony, and Avid.

Developed by Harmonix, the world’s premier music videogame company, published by MTV Games, Rock Band 3 will ship simultaneously worldwide this Holiday 2010 in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other territories for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the Wii system from Nintendo, and Nintendo DS. Rock Band 3 will be compatible with all Rock Band and The Beatles: Rock Band peripherals, as well as most third-party instrument and microphone controllers. Mad Catz is the official peripheral manufacturer and distributor for Rock Band game controllers.

Cambridge, Mass. /Music Industry Newswire/ — iZotope, Inc., a research-driven audio signal processing company born out of MIT, is offering high quality DSP to mobile application developers through their extensive licensing program.

For nearly a decade iZotope has worked with small and large companies in Music, Film, TV and Radio Broadcast, Corporate A/V, Consumer Electronics, Business and Telecommunications. Top audio products such as Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge, Minnetonka AudioTools™ AWE, Avid (Digidesign) Pro Tools, as well as video products such as Grass Valley / Canopus Edius 5 and Techsmith Camtasia Studio rely on iZotope DSP to provide the highest quality audio and functionality for their end users.

Mobile devices have become a premier platform for entertainment, with thousands of exciting apps available for making music, playing games, and listening to radio streams. These experiences are all improved with creative audio effects, pitch and time processing. For example, live audio streams broadcast via radio apps can be sonically enhanced using the same mastering technology available in iZotope’s award-winning Ozone plug-in.

Smartphone devices are used daily to record voice memos, lectures and other events in a variety of environments. The combination of iZotope’s noise reduction and vocal enhancement technologies can vastly improve the quality of these audio recordings. Using iZotope’s advanced time processing algorithms, audio can be slowed down for transcription or sped up for previewing, without any degradation or artifacts in the speech.

Introduced in 2008, iZotope’s iDrum for iPhone app quickly became one of the top music creation and beat-making apps in the App Store. iZotope later partnered with high-profile artists such as RZA of Wu-Tang, Depeche Mode and Underworld to transform the app into an effective platform for marketing and promoting musicians, bands and record labels. Now with integrated Facebook and Twitter sharing, the iDrum for iPhone app is an even more effective tool – not just for music marketing, but for product branding.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. /Music Industry Newswire/ — iZotope, Inc., a leading innovator in audio signal processing, announces Alloy, a new audio plug-in that combines six essential sound shaping tools into one integrated interface. iZotope’s award-winning Ozone has become an industry standard for audio mastering, and now Alloy brings the company’s expertise into the realm of mixing with completely new audio effects and workflow features designed for track and bus use. Alloy is designed for any audio mixing application from professional recording and post-production studios to the home studio, and its uniquely configurable interface helps pros work faster while giving less experienced users simple starting points for mixing.

“iZotope Alloy brings the sound quality and unique features you expect from iZotope to your tracks and busses,” Explains Nick Dika, product manager for Alloy, “It would have been easy to make ‘just another channel strip’, but instead we’ve designed Alloy to be a new class of plug-in, that includes forward thinking new features and brings essential tools for mixing together in a unique new way.”

Alloy includes six modules: Equalizer, Exciter, Transient, Dynamics, De-Esser, Exciter, and Limiter. Over 150 “MacroPresets” combine Alloy’s modules into custom configurations for specific mixing situations, and each preset has a custom Macro layout showing the user simple, useful controls for the task at hand. Advanced users can build their own layouts and move modules around in the signal chain to customize the plug-in.

Sonically, iZotope Alloy combines the precision of digital processing with the subtlety and character of analog hardware. The Exciter’s Harmonic Scaling technology lets users blend between different types of harmonic saturation, from Tube to Tape to Transistor, to add just the right amount of warmth and character to their tracks. The Compressor’s program-dependant “Vintage” mode can smooth out vocals with the forgiving characteristics of a classic optical compressor, or slam drums when more aggressive settings are dialed in. The Dynamics module also features two stages that can be used to create parallel compression effects, and advanced sidechaining that includes multiband and cross-band triggering, for unique ducking and gating effects. An exceptional sounding Transient Shaper can add punch to drums in single band mode, or zero in on transients in more complex material in multiband mode. Throughout Alloy, iZotope has taken key mixing tools and approached them from a new angle, making Alloy a great addition to any musician, sound designer or engineer’s DAW or audio editing application. Alloy is compatible with VST, AU, RTAS/AudioSuite, MAS and DirectX hosts.

iZotope Alloy is designed to complement Ozone, especially for users who like to use the popular mastering plug-in on tracks and busses. Alloy introduces an efficient, zero-latency alternative that streamlines the mixing process and provides many unique new features designed specifically for mixing not found in Ozone including De-Essing, Vintage compression, Sidechaining, a new Harmonic Scaling Exciter, Transient Shaper, custom MacroPreset layouts and more. iZotope is also offering crossgrade pricing from Ozone to Alloy. Ozone customers can find their discount codes for Alloy by logging into in to their accounts at www.izotope.com.

Price and Availability: Alloy is distributed by iZotope and is available at authorized retailers for $249 MSRP.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. /Music Industry Newswire/ — iZotope, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of iZotope Radius for Logic and Apple Soundtrack Pro, a new version of their high-end time stretching and pitch shifting algorithm previously built for Apple’s Logic Pro. This new version has been updated with support for Logic 9 as well as Soundtrack Pro 3.

iZotope Radius allows for independent control over timing and pitch of any audio material while preserving the character and acoustic space of the original recording.

Cambridge, Mass. /Music Industry Newswire/ — iZotope, Inc., a leading innovator in audio signal processing technology, has expanded their extensive licensing program with a suite of audio enhancement tools and effects available for integration into 3rd party software applications for the iPhone and iPod touch handheld devices.

“We are seeing a significant demand for our audio effect libraries on the iPhone as thousands of developers are flocking to this revolutionary platform. These developers are redefining the way consumers interact with their music and audio,” explained Mark Ethier, CEO of iZotope. “With our offerings for the iPhone, we are excited to enable their innovation as the first to offer high quality audio algorithms for developers to integrate into their applications.”

Over the years, many companies have come to rely on iZotope’s research and development, product design, and long-term support to help improve and differentiate their products. The new iZotope Mobile Audio software development library is based on award-winning and innovative audio DSP code base derived from iZotope’s best in class professional and consumer product lines. Now phone applications can benefit from the same audio processing technology used by millions of people in over 50 countries, from independent musicians to major broadcast and recording studios and GRAMMY Award winners.

Two key iPhone application developers will be among the first to incorporate iZotope technology into their products. “FiRe” from Audiofile Engineering and “SmackTalk!” from Marcus Satellite will both feature licensed audio tools from iZotope.

Audiofile Engineering, a leading Mac-based developer of professional audio products, plans to incorporate iZotope audio effects for audio normalization, cleanup, and enhancement in an upcoming release of their highly-regarded “FiRe” Field Recorder App for the iPhone. “We already rely on iZotope’s expertise and audio DSP for our Mac OS X line of products, so it was natural for us to work with iZotope to bring high quality audio processing to the iPhone,” explains Matthew Foust, Co-founder of Audiofile Engineering. Audiofile Engineering is actively developing new iPhone applications as well as providing development services to produce third party iPhone applications.

Marcus Satellite, an animation and electronic music veteran turned App producer, is looking forward to using the iZotope audio effects SDK in his top-100 best selling iPhone App “SmackTalk!” to enhance his users’ experience by adding a wide array of interactive voice effects. “I’ve been using iZotope’s audio DSP technology as VST plug-ins on the desktop, and I’m excited about having that level of quality and interactivity available on the iPhone platform.”

His cover is that of a dancehall night club owner from Trinidad and he enlisted the help of long-time allies and uber-producers, Diplo and Switch, to produce his first LP.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. /Music Industry Newswire/ — iZotope, Inc. and Mute Records have collaborated to bring a Depeche Mode music application, iDrum: Depeche Mode Sounds of the Universe, to the iPhone and iPod touch. iZotope’s popular, interactive iDrum apps let iPhone and iPod touch users create music by tapping the touch screen and rearranging simple shapes and color combinations. The Depeche Mode edition of iDrum includes content from the band’s critically-acclaimed new album, Sounds of the Universe.

Depeche Mode experimented with iDrum for the iPhone/iPod touch in the studio while making Sounds of the Universe, and are now offering their own edition of iDrum on the App Store. Fans can take control of rhythmic patterns, drum hits, effects and instrument sounds from the album to create instant remixes or new original music on their handsets. The album’s producer, Ben Hillier, also produced the content for this iDrum Edition, which includes key rhythmic elements, effects and instrument samples from Sounds of the Universe.

“Since the original iDrum app was released, it’s the music application I’ve been using most on my iPod touch,” said Daniel Miller, chairman and founder of Mute Records. “When the idea came up for Depeche Mode to do their own version of iDrum I thought it was very exciting and I’m glad it’s come to fruition. The app includes really great sounds, and it gives fans and electronic musicians the opportunity to enjoy the album in a completely new way.”

iDrum: Depeche Mode Sounds of the Universe is available for $4.99 on the Apple App Store and includes ten customizable kits with sounds from songs on the album. Additionally, iDrum: Depeche Mode Sounds of the Universe allows users to manipulate album sounds to create music by:

• Tapping the touch screen to play and record musical patterns
• Taking control of the rhythm of every drum sound and sample
• Remixing rhythmic patterns from the album or starting from scratch to make new musical creations
• Bringing sounds in and out of the mix to change the music
• Customizing patterns to create unique new beats

“Depeche Mode’s innovative music is a perfect fit for iDrum. We’re excited to give fans a fun, unique way to creatively interact with Sounds of the Universe—whether they have musical experience or not,” said Nick Dika, content manager at iZotope.

iDrum Offers New Promotional Tool and Revenue Stream for Labels

Aside from its entertainment value, iDrum also serves as a new promotional platform and revenue stream for the label and artist. As record labels look to find ways to appeal to the ever-evolving digital consumer, musical entertainment apps are becoming a popular new way to promote releases and even make up for sliding CD sales. iZotope CEO Mark Ethier explains:

“As the music world shifts from an album-centric model, we’re noticing a renewed focus on finding new ways to connect fans and artists, such as social networking and mobile applications. iDrum Editions are a great way for labels and artists to be a part of the booming App Store market and benefit from a new knd of promotional vehicle that helps bring fans one step closer to the inner workings of their favorite bands.”

iDrum: Depeche Mode Sounds of the Universe is available for $4.99 on the Apple App Store.
