Berlin, Germany /Music Industry Newswire/ — Native Instruments today introduced EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2, a new KONTAKT PLAYER-based instrument for movie, TV and game composers. Developed in collaboration with the renowned sound design house Heavyocity and powered by the industry-leading KONTAKT engine, EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2 includes a further arsenal of highly expressive instruments, rhythms and ambiences that can add profound depth and impact to any dramatic piece of music.

As the latest addition in Heavyocity’s widely acclaimed “Evolve” series, EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2 contains over 300 new sounds based on 2 GByte of exclusive high-quality samples. The material is organized into four categories that provide the crucial elements for powerful scores: “Rhythmic Suites” include stirring percussive and tonal loops complete with individual slices and keymapping; “Percussive Kits” allow the creation of original percussive beds; “Stings & Transitions” support a composition with striking and suspenseful transitional elements; “Tonality & FX” provide a range of highly expressive, evocative instruments and pads.

EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2 also introduces the new “Trigger FX” feature, a versatile and intuitive sound processing section that takes advantage of KONTAKT’s comprehensive effects capabilities. With “Trigger FX”, the keys within a certain octave on the keyboard activate different specific sound treatments including saturation, panning, delay effects and more, which can be intuitively layered and combined to create spectacular special effects and transformations on the fly.

EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2 offers intuitive playback and sound shaping functionality within the free KONTAKT PLAYER software, and can also be loaded into the full version of the KONTAKT 4 sampler for advanced sound editing.

EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2 is available for download purchase in the NI Online Shop for $119 / 99 EUR. A DVD bundle that combines both EVOLVE MUTATIONS products is also available for $169 / 149 EUR.

Berlin, Germany /Music Industry Newswire/ — Native Instruments today introduced the new KONTAKT PLAYER, a free software instrument based on the industry-leading KONTAKT 3 sampler. It provides universal playback functionality for the vast range of available KONTAKT libraries, and is also the basis for a new category of “KONTAKT-Powered” instruments that establishes a unique price-performance ratio for sample-based instruments.

With its unparalleled arsenal of third-party libraries that take advantage of its advanced soundshaping and scripting functionality, KONTAKT has become the essential instrument platform on the market. The new KONTAKT PLAYER is the central instrument to utilize all KONTAKT-based sound material in an efficient and convenient way, both in studio and live performance environments. It accommodates all regular KONTAKT-format libraries as well as all generations of third-party KONTAKT PLAYER instruments, including KOMPAKT and INTAKT formats as well as Native Instruments’ AKOUSTIK PIANO, ELEKTRIK PIANO and BANDSTAND instruments.

The new KONTAKT PLAYER is based on the latest KONTAKT 3.5 engine, and utilizes all its technological achievements including 64-bit support, extended memory addressing, advanced DFD streaming, true multiprocessor support, and more. It provides comprehensive playback functionality with full Universal Import and convenient sound manipulation via the Performance View panels, and only omits the in-depth editing features of the full-featured KONTAKT 3.5 version. All sound libraries are managed in a convenient graphical library browser, providing overview for even the most extensive sound collections.

KONTAKT PLAYER also establishes the basis for a new range of self-powered sample-based instruments, which will be available for download purchase directly from Native Instruments. This line of KONTAKT-Powered instruments debuts with the new MASCHINE DRUM SELECTION and with EVOLVE MUTATIONS by Heavyocity. The launch of KONTAKT PLAYER is also complemented with the free KONTAKT FACTORY SELECTION, a studio-grade sound arsenal with 50 instruments taken from the KONTAKT 3 library, available for download on the NI website.
